Rovio teases Angry Birds Star Wars gameplay prior to November 8 launch

Angry Birds Star Wars is approaching its November 8 launch, and Rovio continues to tease us, today with another gameplay trailer. The birds all look like characters from the classic sci-fi movie, complete with special Star Wars-themed abilities.

The red bird will be able to spin with a lightsaber, taking down structures and deflecting fire from Stormpiggies. The yellow bird is donning Han Solo's appearance, and will be able to make strafing runs over the course of his trajectory, while the black bird Obi-wan Kenobi will be able to execute a force push before making impact. The egg-laying bird actually drops an R2-D2 unit now which electrocutes everything in a certain radius. We've also seen the pink bird dressed up as Princess Leia, who will have a kind of laser shot ability similar to (but more direct) than Han's. Check out some of the other gameplay videos on Rovio's YouTube channel for a further sampling. Chewie looks like he's just huge and will roll over just about everything.

So, who's going to be picking up Angry Birds Star Wars? Is this licensing deal tacky or adorable?

(AP) ? Drew Brees threw two touchdown passes, extending his NFL record streak to 51 games, and Patrick Robinson returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown to lead the New Orleans Saints to a 28-13 lead over Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles after the third quarter Monday night.

In a matchup of struggling teams, the Eagles drove for first downs inside the New Orleans 10 three times, but only came away with two field goals. In fact, they were outscored in those situations, because Robinson took a tipped pass for a New Orleans touchdown, tying the record for the longest interception return in franchise history.

Brees threw a 1-yard scoring pass to Marques Colston late in the first half, then tacked on a 6-yard touchdown to Jimmy Graham in the third quarter after the Eagles had cut a 21-3 halftime deficit to 21-13.

Chris Ivory, playing for the first time this year, scored for the Saints on a 22-yard run.

The Saints were on the verge of blowing it open when they took the second-half kickoff and drove deep into Philadelphia territory. But the Eagles defense came up with a big turnover, Brandon Graham stripping the ball from Brees and falling on it. Two plays later, Vick found DeSean Jackson wide open for a 77-yard touchdown.

Rookie Travaris Cadet, filling in on returns for the injured Darren Sproles, fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Philadelphia recovered. Vick broke off a run to the 8, but a sack stifled the drive. The Eagles settled for Alex Henery's second field goal from 37 yards.

Philadelphia moved the ball effectively in the early going and looked to strike first after Bryce Brown broke off a 40-yard run to the New Orleans 5. After losing 1 yard on a run, the Eagles went to the air looking for the touchdown.

Instead, it was the Saints who scored. Vick's pass went off the hands of tight end Brent Celek ? right into the arms of Robinson, the right cornerback. He took off down the sideline in front of the shell-shocked Philadelphia bench, matching Darren Sharper's franchise record.

Vick was the only guy who had a chance at Robinson, but he instead took a low shot at Saints safety Roman Harper, who was setting up to deliver a block for his teammate. That sparked a brief scuffle while Robinson celebrated. Vick was flagged for a personal foul, though it didn't really matter.

After Henery's 22-yard field goal made it 7-3, the Saints dominated the rest of the first half.

Last in the league in rushing, New Orleans fans had been clamoring for the team to give some carries to Ivory, the team's leading rusher just two seasons ago. He had only dressed for two games this season, and had yet to get on the field.

Finally, New Orleans gave Ivory a shot ? and he sure took advantage On his first carry of the season, he rumbled for a 9-yard gain. Then, breaking several tackles, he ripped off a 22-yard touchdown run that put the Saints ahead 14-3.

After another promising Philadelphia possession was ruined by a silly play ? an unnecessary roughness penalty on Riley Cooper for a blind-side hit ? the Saints took it down the field for another score.

Brees hooked up with Graham on two completions for 30 yards, Pierre Thomas ran for 19 yards, and Brees found Marques Colston in the back of the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown that stretched the lead to 21-3.

Philadelphia has been outscored 45-10 in the first half over the past two games. Last week, the Eagles trailed Atlanta 24-7 at the break.

Both teams came into the game desperate for a win, after starting the season with high expectations.

Philadelphia had lost three straight, sparking constant speculation about whether Vick would lose his starting job and turning up the heat even more on longtime coach Andy Reid.

The Saints were coming off a dismal 34-14 loss at Denver, dropping their record to 2-5. As if they needed any further distraction, there was a report that a contract extension for suspended coach Sean Payton had been voided by the league, prompting speculation that he might not return to New Orleans in 2013.

The Eagles had 317 yards after three quarters, on pace to become the eighth straight team to put up 400 yards on the Saints. But Philadelphia simply had too many breakdowns to take advantage.

Perhaps the biggest blunder other than Robinson's pick was a brilliant trick play on a kickoff return. Cooper laid down in the end zone, then popped up to take a cross-field lateral from Brandon Boykin, streaking down the sideline for an apparent touchdown. Only one problem ? Boykin's lateral was actually a forward pass, ruining the play with a penalty.

On Philadelphia's first scoring drive, LeSean McCoy got loose for runs of 13, 25 and 34 yards, the last of them on a fourth-and-1 play at the New Orleans 38.

But the Eagles couldn't finish the job. Brown was stuffed at the line, Vick completed a pass to McCoy that also was stopped for no gain, and Vick's pass over the middle went off the hands of Jackson, who appeared caught off guard by the throw. He was free in the back of the end zone but made only a halfhearted effort, the ball bouncing off his left hand.

Vick was 13 of 24 for 177 yards and had been sacked four times. McCoy already had 103 yards on 14 carries, while Brown had carried four times for 49 yards.

Brees was 19 of 25 for 237 yards, bouncing back from a tough game at Denver. Ivory had 32 yards rushing on six carries, while Thomas totaled 44 yards on six carries, and Mark Ingram was also impressive with six carries for 42 yards. The Saints already had eclipsed their league-low rushing average with 163 yards on just 19 carries ? an average of 8.6 yards.

Garrett Hartley missed a 52-yard field goal attempt for the Saints.

(AP) ? President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney made their last stands of the 2012 campaign Monday, employing their last vestiges of energy, celebrity boosters and plenty of jet fuel to encourage every supporter and the few remaining undecideds to tip the vote in their favor.

National polls of the eve of Election Day showed a neck-and-neck race. But the winner will be determined by which man gets 270 electoral votes, and Obama had more paths to get there.

The incumbent and the challenger, both fighting weariness and speaking in voices that have turned hoarse, closed by arguing they could do more to lead the country out of the tough economic times that dominated Obama's term. "This nation is going to begin to change for the better tomorrow," Romney said.

"Our work is not yet done," Obama told nearly 20,000 people who filled the street in front of the Wisconsin capital building.

Both men campaigned in states they need to win. Romney was in Florida, Virginia, and New Hampshire, while Obama was trying to protect Wisconsin from a late-breaking GOP challenge before heading to Iowa.

And in an indication of just how all-important Ohio was once again to the future occupancy of the White House, both candidates planned to be on the ground in Columbus in the evening for dueling rallies several hours and seven miles apart. The state has gone for the winner in every presidential election since 1964.

Republican campaign officials said Romney was considering a possible return to Ohio on Tuesday. Without the state, he has to win nearly every other battleground state to defeat Obama.

Both candidates were also hoping to benefit from some star power. Romney planned a final rally in the day's final hour in New Hampshire with Kid Rock while country rock performers The Marshall Tucker Band was joining him in Columbus. Obama had actors Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock doing urban radio interviews, "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm making calls in Colorado, rapper Jay-Z joining him in Columbus and rock legend Bruce Springsteen as his traveling warm-up act.

"He promised me a ride on Air Force One," Springsteen said, strumming his guitar as he made a political pitch between songs.

The rivals planned to appeal to pro football fans in the eleventh hour, taping interviews with ESPN's Chris Berman that will air during halftime of the Monday Night Football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New Orleans Saints.

Both candidates predicted the winner will be determined by which of their operations can get the most supporters to the polls. "This is going to be a turnout election," the president declared in an interview broadcast early Monday as he pleaded with urban radio listeners to get to the polls.

On the edge of an airport runway in Lynchburg, Va., Romney called on his supporters to "make sure we get everyone we know out to vote on Election Day." ''Every single vote," he said, speaking within view of Liberty University and after its chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. rallied the conservative faithful in the crowd.

Obama raised the possibility of defeat as he pleaded with listeners of The Rickey Smiley Morning Show to get to the polls. "If we don't turn out the vote, we could lose a lot of the gains we've already made," Obama said.

It was one of two of the president's radio interviews airing Monday aimed at turning out minority voters, the other with a Spanish-language station in Ohio. The president is relying on black and Hispanic voters to help offset Romney's lead with white men in particular, but the risk for him is that some of those key supporters aren't as motivated to vote as they were in 2008.

"Four years ago, we had incredible turnout and I know people were excited and energized about the prospect of making history," Obama said. "We have to preserve the gains we've made and keep moving forward."

A final national NBC/Wall Street Journal Poll showed Obama getting the support of 48 percent of likely voters, with Romney receiving 47 percent. A Washington Post-ABC News tracking poll had Obama at 49 and Romney at 48. A Pew Research Center poll released Sunday showed Obama with a 3-point-point edge over Romney, 48 percent to 45 percent among likely voters.

Obama dispatched former President Bill Clinton to Pennsylvania on Monday to keep the state in his column. First lady Michelle Obama went south to North Carolina and Florida. Vice President Joe Biden made a final reach in Virginia, while Romney running mate Paul Ryan was covering the most ground, flying to Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Meanwhile, about 30 million people have already voted in 34 states and the District of Columbia, either by mail or in person, although no ballots will be counted until Election Day, Tuesday. More than 4 million of the ballots were cast in Florida, where Democrats filed a lawsuit demanding an extension of available time. A judge granted their request in one county where an early voting site was shut down for several hours Saturday because of a bomb scare.

[Interview & Giveaway] With The Author of Trinity, Clare Davidson

Welcome Author Clare Davidson

Clare Davidson is a character driven fantasy writer, teacher and mother, from the UK. Clare was born in Northampton and lived in Malaysia for four and a half years as a child, before returning to the UK to settle in Leeds with her family. Whilst attending Lancaster University, Clare met her future husband and never left. They now share their lives with their young daughter and a cranky grey cat, called Ash. Clare juggles family life with writing, teaching and a variety of fibre craft hobbies.

If you could travel in a time machine where would you go back to the past or into the future?
I'd go back to the late 13th/early 14th century, when Edward I was the king of England. My daughter is named after his wife, Eleanor of Castille. I've been fascinated with Edward as a king for several years, mainly because he seems to have been one of the few English kings who actually loved his wife. Besides, using the legend of King Arthur to promote himself was a great idea!

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
Wait, only three things? Would it be really cheating to have "my family" as one thing? Yes? Oh, OK then... My daughter, my laptop and some kind of solar power supply so my laptop doesn't run out of power! Sorry Tom, it was a tough choice between you and the laptop ;-)

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Funnily enough this is a question I've been asking some of my pupils recently. I think I'd like super speed, so I could get everything done and have more time to write and read.

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
I'm actually rubbish at eating breakfast. I hardly ever have time to eat anything proper, so I rely on breakfast biscuits because they're handy and require no effort, plus I can eat them on the go. When I'm on holiday I love having a full English, with bacon, eggs, sausages and toast. It's lovely, especially when someone else is cooking it and washing up afterwards.

What book are you reading now?
Sciron by David Rashleigh. It's a modern day ghost story, using historical facts from the Second World War.

What?s your favorite season/weather?
I love warm, dry summer days. We don't get a lot of those around here! I should really consider moving to somewhere with a better climate. Lancaster has it's own little eco-climate due to the Gulf Stream running close by, so we tend to have more than our fair share of dull, damp weather.

What was your favorite children's book?
The Very Hungry Caterpillar! I adored that book and my little girl adores it too. It's a timeless book for babies and toddlers. Moving on to my pre-teen years, I loved the Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander. I've probably re-read those books more than any others and I'm looking forward to reading them to Eleanor when she's older.

Beach or Pool?
Pool. I hate sand; it gets everywhere and is uncomfortable when you're trying to get dry.

What is one book everyone should read?
I am going to cheat this time and choose a trilogy. The Regeneration trilogy by Pat Barker: Regeneration, The Eye in the Door and the Ghost Road. It looks at the First World War through the eyes of fictional characters and real people, such as Wilfred Owen. It's a harrowing read, with a massive emotional punch. There's two reasons why it's a trilogy everyone should read.
1/ It's a stark reminder of the horrors of war, including shell shock, conscientious objectors and the conflict itself. I know we see war and conflict on the news everyday, but unless you have a family member in the army it's too easy to be distanced from it all. Ms Barker's trilogy takes you out of that comfort zone and immerses you in what it was like for soldiers in the trenches: their hopes, fears and friendships.
2/ For writers, the trilogy is an example of beautiful prose and strong characterisation. You forget which characters are real and which are fictional, because they all seem equally lifelike. Their fates rip your heart out and tear it to shreds. It's well worth studying Ms Barker's techniques if you're serious about writing.
As a quick warning, the trilogy is fairly explicit in nature: language, violence and sexual content. For that reason it's a trilogy best left until you're an adult!

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects??
I'm working on two projects at the moment: a dark urban fantasy and I've just started the prequel to Trinity.
The prequel to Trinity is going to answer a lot of questions about what happened to Miale, how and why the War of Tears started and where Wolf magic comes from. You get one perspective of what happened in Trinity, but that's far from the whole truth.
I'm planning on releasing them both next year.
